Narcissism or Confidence?

Where do we draw the line between these two concepts? Narcissism is a mental disorder (see American Psycho) but is that the reality of what is happening with people? Are the majority of people Patrick Bateman? No, they aren't. There is a confidence that radiates off successful people deriving from an internal drive and belief that they know best.

Any decision made requires a bit of narcissism. You must have the confidence to think about your options, make your choice, and execute it. It mandates you to know that what your doing is the best option for the situation.

Where we must draw the line is if blind narcissism puts others down without accepting responsibility. There is no issue with believing that one's athleticism, intelligence, ideas, etc. are superior but is that at the expense of others? Do we toe the line between discrimination, lack of responsibility, or passing judgement? Do we associate large groups of people into stereotypes? If so, that is not what should be practiced and is not the takeaway.

Those who believe they can lead and have the skills to help others be successful is what should be promoted. If their decisions are wrong, then they must live with the outcomes. Those arguing having a little "narcissism" is a bad thing lack the ability to do anything themselves and instead promote to bringing others down. Seems a little "narcissistic" to me.

It's "narcissism" when the person is disliked and "confidence" when we like them.
