Why Do We Accept Mediocre Results?

If you pay taxes of any kind throughout the year (impossible to avoid as a US citizen) then why do we not hold our government accountable at all? This has been the perfect week for me to write about this, from the debt ceiling debacle to my personal experiences, once again government has done a garbage job. If you asked 100 people what they think of the DMV, does 1 or 2 people say "positive"? I doubt it. This is telling since every single government agency operates in the same way. I had to finalize my citizenship docs (and officially am awaiting my court date) but that required my last apostille from the SoS in Chicago. Let's just say it took 5 trips, 3 of them being wrong instructions, 1 being refusal to accept since the worker had a personal vendetta against me at that point, and the fifth being successful. Each time you leave, you wonder "Why isn't the government better?" Why do we hold a company like JPMorgan or Apple to give us 100% greatness each time...

The Struggle to Create

The struggle to create, build, make, establish, etc. any business or organization starts with the simple issue of "what to build?" Sounds simple but it is deeper. Yes, the initial issue of having an idea and then following up on it is difficult but that isn't actually step 1. Step 1 is asking yourself internally the question of: "Am I creating a solution or problem?" Most people immediately say that they want to solve a problem but that is looking at the world through the eyes of Ghandi. Business exists to create demand or problems that continue indefinitely. Who is trying to solve a problem and cease to exist? And no, this is not going in the direction of conspiracies. This is identifying what a business's main purpose is. Let's take META for example. They are causing so many issues with mental health, self-esteem, and biased algorithms but do they care? They are making money and aren't on the frontlines trying to stop it from happening since it bri...

Let's Write Again

Few month break. Working on languages, career, and personal growth. Nothing crazy but worth notating. Topic that I thought of and think is difficult to conceptualize: creating a product that genuinely benefits society (or at least 99%) without coming off as a "grift" or "scam". Let me give 2 examples: iPhone vs Financial Literacy Course from Instagram. The goal isn't to create something that is deemed a scam but rather something that creates value without necessarily at the expense of others. The iPhone allows me to open up a different world alongside the entire planet Earth. A world online that has become a reality to meet people, learn, work, etc. both in-person and virtually. The literary course comes off as a scam, a rip-off, a grift, something that is a "quick buck." It teaches you something that can be done with 5 minutes of Google.  Is one inherently better? That is up to the consumer. But trying to come up with a list of products that provide m...

2023 Final Goals

Short and sweet into 2023, here are my goals: 1. Read, read, read. My goal is to read in all 4 languages and potentially a 5th if possible. 2. Buy my own house or residence 3. Start a business and keep brainstorming new ideas 4. Travel abroad again 5. Career advancement and skills acquired both on the job and online 6. Continue to run and workout 7. Continue to grow my cookbook 8. Finalize dual-citizenship These are my "short 6" that I think are more than achievable. I will recap 2022 next week, and have a few different goals to add here as well. 2022 was a success but some will need refining and some will carryover. Let's see where 2023 goes!

Ability to Lead Isn't Learned

Books that should be read immediately: 1. How to Win Friends and Influence People 2. From Zero to One Looking at those who lead, it is natural with fine-tuning. There are tips you gain along the way but a majority is built up through experience and life experiences. With this, these books help you gain knowledge on what to identify and improve. In other news, speaking to others in their language or their perspective helps connect on a level that translating can not do. The best adapt to the situation, not making others adapt to them.
