Birthday Purchase

No insight or crazy headlines (minus Europe being on the verge of collapsing due to energy shortages but that's about it) so its birthday talk. My list is short but I am thinking of the following: 1. AirPods / Wireless Headphones 2. Apple Watch / Smartwatch 3. iPad 4. Other At this point, it is all tech. I can't think of something I really want or need but want to get something. Time to Google and see but I have enough books to read, laptop is 5 months old and is perfect, so nothing there. Guess we may hold off and see new Apple products this fall and go from there. You only turn 25 once so make it something cool I guess.

Rubik's Cube

Learned how to solve one this weekend (takes 5 mins, I use a beginner method for now) but the goal is sub 1 min eventually. How many people can solve this using actual math? Genuine question being asked.  Imagine everyday if school was focused on Rubik's Cubes, riddles, and paradox based situations once the student gets to be 11 or 12 years old. What kind of thinkers would we generate? What kind of knowledge would we advance for and against God? What kind of technology would be made and how many kids would stay out of poverty and trouble? Maybe our math should be based on real world examples such as business or computer programming, our reading based on historical classics, and history be taught in-full with no redactions. We should want all our information applicable and pure. Instead, schools babysit because the law makes them while students learn information I can Google and find a 5 min YouTube video on. Today's learning is based on diversity, equity, and inclusion without ...

Philosophy is Underrated Yet Forgotten

Schools and universities no longer teach philosophy. I had 2 courses in college, along with a couple psychology courses, and never found a desire to pursue a minor in either. Finance and economics were smarter options financially and they pursued my interests. Yet in post-college life, I find myself fascinated by these two subjects. I currently am studying and reading about: 1. Cosmological Arguments 2. Dante's Inferno in Italian / Vulgar Latin 3. Feser's 5 Modern Arguments for God 4. Immanuel Kant 5. Nihilism (I have read the Stranger, but time to read it again) These concepts are fascinating yet I did not hear about any of these until after college. Instead, college philosophy meant watching drag shows and discussing bisexualism. Zero talk about deeper concepts, arguments or proofs, and why philosophy gives more meaning to God than any religion can. Frustrating that college is truly becoming a place of indoctrination, and then hard working people pay off bad loans without hol...

Narcissism or Confidence?

Where do we draw the line between these two concepts? Narcissism is a mental disorder (see American Psycho ) but is that the reality of what is happening with people? Are the majority of people Patrick Bateman? No, they aren't. There is a confidence that radiates off successful people deriving from an internal drive and belief that they know best. Any decision made requires a bit of narcissism. You must have the confidence to think about your options, make your choice, and execute it. It mandates you to know that what your doing is the best option for the situation. Where we must draw the line is if blind narcissism puts others down without accepting responsibility. There is no issue with believing that one's athleticism, intelligence, ideas, etc. are superior but is that at the expense of others? Do we toe the line between discrimination, lack of responsibility, or passing judgement? Do we associate large groups of people into stereotypes? If so, that is not what should be pra...

Post-Trip Thoughts

Last Few Weeks: 1. Busy Workflow 2. Funeral 3. Trip to see family and vacation in Italy In short, it has been absolutely hectic with a wide range of emotions. I have a few takeaways from my trip that I needed to write down given the imprint they left in my brain. They are not necessarily "special" to everyone but left me amazed during the last few weeks. 1. USA is truly unique. There really is no other country like us. This is mainly a good thing, and still remains the best place to live. There is a certain magic that this country provides that has been lost by each successive generation. Different topic, but main takeaway is to travel. See other places. Hopefully my trip to Italy is the start of many more places and visits domestically and abroad. Different perspectives either change your mind or strengthen your own ideas. Both are good when done with reason and logic, along with a bit of personal experience. 2. Countries that rely on tourism are 100% different than those th...
