World Cup
The world's game is already filled with scandals involving betting, alcohol, and LGBTQ rights. For being the sport of the world, there clearly has not been a united front as to how these issues should be handled.
You hear both sides arguing why they are correct in their approaches to these issues and the common trend is to "be on the right side of history." This has to be one of the worst arguments possible and least convincing.
To be on the right side of history has largely meant being on the side of the victors or winners. Are they always morally right? Of course not.
The reality is as morality becomes blurred and values that used to unite us now divide, there is no universal way to solve decisions. The breakdown of said values lead to divide, hate, and fighting.
Globalization was seen in the 1990's as a positive, a uniting force, a way to settle differences and come together. I would argue it has done the opposite. It has now convinced everyone that values are unable to be compared as this morality blend occurs. The FIFA President declared that no one can argue against Qatar and the human rights violations because everyone has them (paraphrased). Is this a real argument? Again, no. Globalization and the argument of relativity pushed by 21st century progressives and liberal individuals is wrong both morally, factually, and in terms of government philosophy.
Globalization simply means to attempt to wipe away 21st century values and replace them with 20th century solutions. It leads us backwards and acts as the opposite of what it is supposed to do. Are we really going to say that Qatar's anti-LGBTQ stance and slave labor used for this World Cup can't be criticized because of slavery in the America's 600 years ago by empires no longer in power and haven't been for decades to centuries? Let alone slavery itself being banned for centuries? This is not only an illogical fallacy but also plain wrong. Everything is not relative and there are absolute stances to take on many, many topics.
Migrant slave labor is wrong and anti-LGBTQ is wrong morally regardless of the time period. Progressives defend these ridiculous comparisons and push for globalization while critiquing Western and 21st Century societies with one goal in mind: elimination of Western values for more government control. Disgusting and a disservice to those who have fought and will fight for real progress.
